KathyAnn Murphy

KathyAnn Murphy is in her final year studying BA Hons in Design for Stage and Screen Production Design at the Institute of Art Design and Technology.

She has been involved in theatre in many different ways since a young age. Her first main role was playing Helen in 'The Cripple of Inishmaan' with Masquerade Drama Group in 2012 and since then has been cast in many plays, such as Da, One Flew Over the Cuckoo Nest, Our Day Out, The Full Monty to name a few. She has also been cast in many musicals such as Suessical, Hairspray, Evita, Joseph & his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. KathyAnn is a past pupil of The Penston Vocal Academy with which she performed in venues such as The Convention Centre, National Concert Hall and Farmleigh House.

She has completed up to Grade 6 Musical Theatre Exams with the Royal Academy of Music and has won many Monologue and Duologue competitions in the Arklow Music Festival. Last year KathyAnn completed her Irish Board of Speech and Drama Proficiency Exam which now allows her to teach and pass on her love of drama to children and students alike.

Last year KathyAnn directed 'I Never Saw Another Butterfly' with Rasper Players in Gorey Little Theatre and was part of the design team for the Royal Irish Academy's Operatic production 'The Fairy Queen' in the Samuel Beckett Theatre in Dublin.

In addition to teaching Musical Theatre with Frances Ryan in Arklow Dance Studios, KathyAnn is also the resident Drama Teacher in ‘Stage Door Performing Arts' Gorey.

She is also the founder and director of MAD drama school which has won numerous awards and will stage their first full production of 'Alice' in November.
